
Telsar History
Introduction of Telsar Laboratories, Inc.
Telsar Laboratories, Inc. was founded in 1984 by J. Peter Zimmer to provide service for ophthalmic lasers in the US market. Telsar has steadily grown over the years and with the prudent acquisitions listed below, has become a well known and respected entity in the medical laser field.
1991 - Acquired the LaserTek line of photocoagulators from Alcon Surgical Instruments of Dallas, Texas.
1994 - Concluded negotiations to provide service for Bausch and Lomb to provide all service and installation for their line of refractive lasers (LASIK) throughout the Americas.
1996 - Telsar opened a subsidiary, Telsar Computer and LAN Services Inc. (TCLS), which designs, sells and services computer networks for business, educational, banking and medical facilities around the Missouri/Illinois area. Telsar and TCLS combined revenues over the past 5 years have ranged between one to two million annually depending upon the economy. Telsar and TCLS currently employ 14 people at its headquarters in Wood River Illinois. The computer technicians travel within a two state region, the laser engineering staff travels the US, and the sales staff travels throughout the world promoting the business.
1999 - Purchased the assets of the SoftLight Laser Company (hair removal and skin resurfacing) from Thermo-Electron.
2001 - Purchased from CBI of Dallas, Texas, and Dr. Nikolai Tankovich the manufacturing rights and intellectual property for the production and sales of a unique, patented lotion used in laser hair removal and skin resurfacing.
